Phil got his start playing dive bars all over Michigan and the Midwest with award winning Rock and Roll band Knee Deep Shag. He has toured Europe, Canada and the States with RCA recording artist Rachael Yamagata, toured and performed with notable acts such as Ryan Adams and Ray Lamontagne, and has played noteworthy festivals such as Glastonbury and Austin City Limits.
In 2011 Phil's first solo record Between the Carolinas was picked up by Minneapolis indie label Princess Records. A haunted batch of folk-rock road songs, written and recorded on a beat up 1977 Guild D-25 acoustic guitar. The song "Goodbye is not the End" was featured on the season finale of MTV's Real World: Cancun. Between the Carolinas has been licensed by the MTV, VH1, Oxygen and Showtime networks, as well as put into rotation on 200+ radio stations in the US. Phil currently splits his time between teaching private guitar lessons, playing with Americana supergroup The Corn Fed Girls, Folk duo Thunderbolt & Lightfoot and doing select dates with Michigan singer/songwriter May Erlewine.
