Hey people, got some good stuff cooking over here.  Some very exciting shows being booked, some I can share and some I can't quite yet.  Here's what I can tell you:  My good friend, and producer of the year, Ian Gorman has a new CD coming out that he made with Dave Bruzza of Greensky Bluegrass.  The album is totally amazing and the release show is at Bell's in Kalamazoo on April 7th.  Not only are they letting me open the show, I also get to play in their band.  Yes!

Rehearsals have begun for our next collaborative effort with The Red Sea Pedestrians and Corn Fed Girls.  We are currently working up The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".  Mark it on your calendars, September 1st at Bells.  An announcement is coming soon regarding more shows.

Lastly, my rock band Knee Deep Shag is putting together a string of shows in June with our good friends Domestic Problems.  Please check the shows page for details and additional shows.

More soon!

Hey folks, this weekend is the third and final performance of the Corn Fed Girls/Red Sea Pedestrians Abbey Road shows.  It's at one of the coolest venues in Michigan, the Wealthy theatre in Grand Rapids.  Doors at seven, show at eight.  Hope to see you there!

Xoxo.

So, here's something that makes me happy just thinking about it.  My string band The Corn Fed Girls and our good friends The Red Sea Pedestrians are playing in the beer garden at Bell's on September 1st.  We'll each do a short set of our own music and then all eleven of us will perform The Beatles' Abbey Road from top to bottom.  The rehearsals have been amazing and I can only imagine the show will be even better.  Come get your Beatles on!

You can read an article about it here.

In other news I've started recording the follow-up to Between the Carolinas, and can't wait for you to hear it.  It's both rollicking and jaunty.

Just posted some pictures from the CD release show, taken by Mark Ziegler.  Thanks Mark and thanks to everyone for making the night a success.

From the Kalamazoo Gazette:
'Between the Carolinas': Kalamazoo songwriter Phil Barry's album gets 'new life,' to be released at Bell's Eccentric Cafe

Bonjour tout le monde!  To celebrate the release of Between the Carolinas on Princess Records we are planning a very special show at Bell's Eccentric Cafe on July 7th.  We'll be performing songs from the CD plus a few new ones.  The band is comprised of my great friends John Campos on Mandolin, Jeff Moehle on Drums and Michael Fuerst on the electric Bass.  This is the first time that many of these songs will be played in a full band setting.  Sweet.  Also on the bill is my favorite musical act on both sides of the Mississippi, Hymn For Her, plus a few surprises.

OK, more soon.

Hey errbody, we're back with an update on radio and a very exciting couple of shows coming up.

First off, it's the end of an epic eight week radio push similar in scope to the Viking expansion.  The radio list is here, so please, please, please, if you can find it in your heart, call and request it on your local station.  It really does make a difference.

Also, two shows that are worth mentioning:  The Corn Fed Girls are returning to Bell's Eccentric Cafe on April 23rd with the AMAZING Hymn For Her.  And then on the 29th at the Old Dog Tavern I'm doing a "solo" show with the unflappable John Campos sitting in on mandolin.  We're opening for Midwestern Lull, another one of my favorite bands.  Also on the bill are Grizzly Sweets and Micki Croisant, both from Chicago.

Hope to see you there!

Between The Carolinas "goes to radio" on February 15th.  I'll check in with the details as they become available.

Fingers crossed.

Hey everyone, and happy holidays!   Hope you are staying warm.  A couple ot things for you:  The Corn Fed Girls are playing our annual Christmas show at Bells Eccentric Cafe on Saturday, December 18th.  The theme this year is "A Very Merry KISSmas".   Lord help us all.  The Jack Wilkin Trio is opening the show.

Also, I'm getting geared up for the (re-) release of my album Between The Carolinas on Princess Records.  I'll be booking some shows in the first part of the new year to support it.  In the meantime you can check it out here, we've added one new song, re-mastered and re-packaged it.  Woot!

Record deal?  Check.

OK, things have been very busy around here.  I've got great news, my record "Between the Carolinas" has been picked up by Princess Records out of Minneapolis, MN.  They are the home to some amazing artists such as The Sextons, Admiral Byrd and Dallas Orbiter.  We've added a new song "Cora" and had the entire album re-mastered and re-packaged!  I'll keep you posted on an official release date and release shows.

In other news, The Corn Fed Girls are set to release our sophomore effort "Papercuts" this fall.  We we'll have copies available at shows and on CDBaby.com.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

xoxo
